Tony Helms, Candidate for Mayor of Slocomb, AL

I have professional training and experience running several types of organizations, including mapping, survey, and heavy construction equipment units, retail operations, both commercial and residential property development and housing rentals.

Having lived in Fairfax County, VA, Durham County, NC, and Forsyth County, GA over the last 40 years, I have been exposed to multiple ways the government and local municipalities operate and run. Being able to draw from this, I can bring fresh, innovative ideas to Slocomb, while at the same time ensuring that we preserve the values of the town I love, Slocomb!

I would really appreciate your vote! If I have the honor of being elected Mayor of Slocomb, I will strive to hear every resident's voice. I will always be available by phone and I plan on being 'in the office' at least 1 full day a week, if not more. I will also strive to make sure our policies align with the needs of our community, all the while keeping the utmost of integrity in place.

Thank you for your time in reading this to get to know me.

Again, I will be honored if you choose me as your next Slocomb Mayor.

Tony Helms

Tony Helms, Candidate for Mayor of Slocomb, AL

I want all Slocomb residents to have visibility into my dreams and direction for Slocomb. Below, I have listed several of the ideas that I have accumulated over the years that I would love to see come to fruition for Slocomb.

I believe that the trajectory for Slocomb forward should include transparency in all matters, the continued improvement of infrastructure, as well as quality of life issues.

  • Splash pad at Centennial Park
  • Soccer field
  • Track field
  • Auditorium
  • More restaurants
  • Zoning Ordinances redone to reflect our residents' needs and values
  • Zoning Maps need updating to reflect actual zoning
  • Expanding the city limits of Slocomb
  • Post all city council meeting minutes on the city's website and social media pages

If I have the privilege of being elected as your Slocomb Mayor, I will work hard to search out all possible avenues to achieve these goals, and to make as many of these as possible, a reality for our residents.
